INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL VISA TYPES

GENERAL VISA INSTRUCTIONS

All foreign nationals, including children, require a visa to enter India. No bookings or travel arrangements should be confirmed until a visa decision has been made. Mission will not be responsible for any loss of bookings made in anticipation of obtaining a Visa.

Visa fees are non-refundable and subject to change. The High Commission reserves the right to decide the duration of visa, irrespective of the fees tendered at the time of making application.

As on date there is no e-Visa facility for Nigerian Nationals who plan to visit India. All Visa applications have to be submitted in person at HCI, Abuja or CGI, Lagos along with physical copies of the documents required for the visa category.  

Applications will be accepted only after verification of documents at the counters in HCI Abuja/CGI Lagos. Mere acceptance of the application does not guarantee issuance of visa. The High Commission has the right to reject any application at any time during the processing of the application.

Processing times vary from application to application and is at the sole discretion of the High Commission of India. Some applications may take longer than others to get processed. Hence, confirm your travel plans only after obtaining the appropriate visa.

Applications from Foreign Nationals who chose to apply for an Indian Visa from missions in Nigeria may have to wait for requisite visa clearances. All such applications will be accepted only upon establishment of legal stay in Nigeria.

Visitors to restricted/protected areas need special permits and for this purpose an additional form has to be completed. Please contact the HCI, Abuja / CGI, Lagos if you wish to ascertain whether any of the places you intend to visit fall in the category of restricted/protected areas.

For any other category of visa not mentioned at Visa Types & Requirements, please contact the enquiry counter at HCI Abuja / CGI Lagos for further details and requirements.

Visa is not a right and it can be denied without assigning any reason. All Visas are valid from Date of Issue, not from date of arrival in India. Visa fee is processing charges. It cannot be refunded under any circumstances, whether Visa is denied or granted for a shorter period than applied for. Once Visa is granted, it cannot be changed or amended. Applicants must exit India before the date of expiry mentioned on the visa.

The decision of the High Commission in this matter shall be final.

Visa Fees for Nigerian Nationals irrespective of the visa type and duration is USD 585.00 + ICWF USD 3.00

Please note that Visa fee will be accepted only at the Sterling Bank Plc extension counter in the premises of The High Commission of India, Abuja / CGI, Lagos. Payment in dollars is not accepted and has to be done in equivalent Nigerian Naira.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Yellow Fever Vaccine: Yellow fever vaccination for all except infants under six months and polio VAC/IPV for all residents, except third country foreign nationals, are compulsory for travelling to India.

Polio Vaccine: All Nigerian Nationals visiting India would require to carry proof of vaccination for polio. All Nigerian travellers would be required to submit a valid polio vaccination certificate with at least one dose of bivalent oral polio vaccine (bOPV) or inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) within the previous 12 months and administered not less than 4 weeks prior to arrival.
